BUAK

Organisation

BUAK is a public corporation whose leadership is nominated on equal terms by workers’ organisations (Construction and Woodworkers’ Union in agreement with the Chamber of Labour) and employers’ organisations (Economic Chamber).

BUAK’s administrative bodies are the Committee, the Board and the Supervisory Committee. There is an Advisory Committee for each federal state (Bundesland) department.

Members of the administrative bodies are assigned for a five-year term.

BUAK’s two directors are nominated by the Board and appointed by the Committee after consultation with the Supervisory Committee:

  • Rainer Grießl (worker representative)
  • Bernd Stolzenburg (employer representative)

The Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health and Consumer Protection (BMASGK) functions as the regulatory authority.

More specifically, Section VII of BMASGK is responsible for issues relating to the Construction Workers’ Annual Leave and Severance Pay Act [Bauarbeiter-Urlaubs- und Abfertigungsgesetz] (BUAG), and Section VI is responsible for issues relating to the Bad Weather Compensation for Construction Workers Act [Bauarbeiter-Schlechtwetterentschädigungsgesetz] (BSchEG).
