BUAK

Calculation of leave entitlements as of 1 January 2011

The number of leave days awarded is easily calculated. To do so, however, the number of accumulated qualifying weeks which have already been recorded by BUAK must be known.

The calculation of the leave entitlement depends on the total number of weeks of employment.

Up to 1150 collected qualifying weeks:

25 x number of qualifying weeks      =    leave entitlement
                        52

Example:
Mr. Smith has 12.2 qualifying weeks (12 qualifying weeks + 1 qualifying day) recorded with BUAK and has accumulated fewer than 1150 weeks of employment.

25 x 12,2       =    5,9
    52

Only fully earned days can be claimed during the calendar year. Mr Smith can therefore claim 5 days of leave. At the end of the year, the claims are commercially rounded. Therefore, under the same conditions, Mr Smith from example 1 would earn one more day of leave in kind after the monthly closing for December 2011, i.e. 6 total days of leave.

1150 collected qualifying weeks and above:

30 x number of qualifying weeks      =    leave entitlement
                     52

Example:
Mr. Jones also earned 12.2 qualifying weeks in the current year, but has already accumulated more than 1150 total weeks of employment.

30 x 12,2      =    7,0
    52

Mr Jones can claim 7 days of leave. With commercial rounding at the end of the year, the leave entitlement of 7 days would remain the same.
